PURPOSE: A method and a device for automatically designating bell sounds by the time are provided to designate bell sounds differently according to times so that time can be recognized according to the designated bell sounds. And the method and a device enable the designation of bell sounds at desired times such as meals or promises. CONSTITUTION: If a user selects a mode, a selected melody is inputted to a designated melody memorization address of a memory through a program of a main processor. If a telephone call is received from external, the main processor confirms the mode selected in a mode selection unit and time in a timer, to discriminate whether the time of the selected mode equals to the time of the timer. If the time of the selected mode equals to the time of the timer, the main processor outputs a melody from the memorization address of the memory. If the time of the selected mode is not equal to the time of the timer, a melody set according to each time is outputted.
