<p>The present invention provides medical devices having a nitric oxide releasing compound associated with them for the purpose of altering the angiogenic activity in tissue surrounding the implant device. In particular, angiogenic implants configured for implantation in the myocardium of the heart are provided. The nitric oxide releasing compounds may be joined to the device in a polymer matrix coating or may be joined directly to the surface of the device after reaction with organosilane.</p> |
