PURPOSE: A method for detecting an error of an imaging element and for correcting the error is provided to make a micro computer constantly compare a vertical blanking signal generated from the element with a vertical blanking signal generated when the element is normally operated. According to a preset time, it is detected whether the operation of the element is wrong or not so as to quickly convert the wrongly-operated element into a normal operation state. CONSTITUTION: A micro computer initializes a horizontal/vertical processor(S100). An error flag(Error-Fg), an error check flag(ErrorCheck-Fg), and a vertical blanking time(V_BLK_Time) are set up as '0'. The micro computer decides whether the horizontal/vertical processor is driven(S200). If not, the micro computer returns to the step 'S200'. If the horizontal/vertical processor is driven, the micro computer sets up an error check state, to check a wrong operation of the horizontal/vertical processor(S300). The error check flag(ErrorCheck-Fg) is set up as '1'. The micro computer checks the wrong operation of the horizontal/vertical processor(S400). If the horizontal/vertical processor is not wrongly operated, the micro computer returns to the step 'S300'. If the horizontal/vertical processor is wrongly operated, the micro computer returns to the step 'S100'. When the horizontal/vertical processor is wrongly operated, the error flag(Error-Fg) is set up as '1'.
