PURPOSE: An international mobile telecommunications-2000(IMT-2000) base transceiver system having a modem by the sector, is provided to mount a modem processing only a single sector on a shelf divided according to sectors, and to make a modem mounted on a specific shelf processing only signals of the corresponding sector. CONSTITUTION: A shelf including a modem is equipped by the sector. The modem having a modulator and a demodulator processes only signals of a single sector. When increasing the number of sectors of a cell in a code division multiple access(CDMA) mobile communication system to 6(six), sectors can be increased only by increasing the number of shelfs to 6(six), without changing modems. The first shelf processes signals of the first sector, and the second shelf processes signals of the second sector. Accordingly, a modem of each shelf processes only signals of a corresponding single sector.
