The ball-and-socket joint for use in vehicle wheel suspension or steering systems has a protective sleeve (22) over the ball (16) and the top of the socket (14). One sealing lip (22a, 22b) on the sleeve is fitted to the component it surrounds by an anti-friction bearing (30). This component may be either the ball shaft or the socket.
