PURPOSE: A method for allocating channels of a digital apparatus with a digital interface is provided, so that the digital apparatus can receive channel numbers as satisfying restriction conditions related to channel number selections, even when the allocated channel numbers are restricted by other regular part and the restricted channel numbers are not capable of being allocated by a predetermined cause. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus calculates a channel number for being allocated to an output plug, according to restriction conditions. The digital apparatus attempts an allocation for the calculated channel number to the output plug. If the channel number allocating attempt is successful, the digital apparatus allocates a channel with the channel number. If the attempt fails, the digital apparatus is allocated with an optional channel number to set up a predetermined state with a calculation backward value, on the basis of the allocated channel number. The digital apparatus allocates the channel with the optional channel number.
