The effect yarn, to be used for woven or knitted fabrics, is a texturized yarn with different crimped effects along the yarn length. The texturized characteristics are placed along the yarn length in regular and periodic intervals, or they are at irregular intervals. The yarn is texturized by false twisting, using friction disks. The yarn is given constant and alternating changes in the twist ratio and in the drawing ratio. The yarn is produced with alternating changes in the gap between it and sources of heat and/or cold. The yarn can also be texturized in a stuffer chamber or by air texturizing. An Independent claim is included for a friction disk yarn false twisting assembly, where the yarn characteristics are set by constant changes in the twist action.
