PURPOSE: A step thread safety device is provided not only to stop an occupant transporter by sensing an abnormal driving of a step thread due to separation and breakage but also to secure occupants' safety by preventing skewness of a step thread. CONSTITUTION: A fixed plate(2) is combined to an upper portion of a frame of an occupant transporter like an escalator. A moving member(3) is installed to be slidable on the upper portion of the fixed plate(2). On the upper and both the side portions, a first(4) and a second guide member are formed to guide the moving member(3) without shaking up/down and left/right. An operation shaft(6) penetrating the first guide member(4) is installed on the moving member(3). A spring(7) is inserted to the operation shaft(6), and a safety switch(8) is formed on the upper portion of the first guide member(4). A roller bracket(9) is fixed on the one side of the operation shaft(6), and a detecting roller(12) touching with a safety cleat of a step thread is rotationally installed on the roller bracket(9) by a roller shaft(13). A guide roller(14) not only restricting the proceeding of the detecting roller(12) over specific distance but also guiding the movement of the step thread is rotationally installed on both sides of the detecting roller(12). An operation bracket(15) operating the safety switch(8) during the proceeding of the detecting roller(12) is combined to other side of the operation shaft(6).
