In a process and cylindrical assembly to treat waste water, the water is introduced into a cylinder holding a quantity of ion-exchange resin which is subsequently regenerated after take-up of anions and cations. The novelty is that: (a) the waste water is introduced into a cylindrical vessel (1) which is sub-divided into a number of chambers (4) which rotate on a common shaft (2); (b) ion-exchange resin (7) is introduced into one of the chambers (4); (c) waste water passes through the chamber (4) with resin (7), which absorbs cations and anions from the water; (d) exhausted ion exchange resin (7) is transferred to a second chamber (4) in which it is purified by electrolysis and the ions are precipitated; (e) the purified ion exchange resin (7) is transferred to and collected within a third chamber (4), before return to the first chamber (4); the chambers (4) are separated by walls which may be opened to link adjacent chambers (4). |
