The holder is located in an assembly station for motor vehicle bodies or body parts, and is fastened to a moveable side section (25,26) of the station. It is formed by a hook-like bracket (27), a support surface (28), and at least one clamping device (29) to fix the carrier (24) in place. Either of the components are fastened detachable to the station side sections. The station has two side sections, and the brackets have aligned grooves for suspension of a complementary element of the carrier. The carrier is formed like a frame with projecting supports for a vehicle body part (18).
