PURPOSE: A paper money sensor is provided to prevent illegal withdrawal of paper money, which stores in a cash box, by using counterfeit paper money attached by a thread or a tape. CONSTITUTION: A paper money sensor having an insertion roller(8) and a withdrawal roller(2) is prepared. A sensor(11) located between the insertion roller(8) and the withdrawal roller(2) includes an emitter(4) and a receiver(5). For being able to regulate the receiver's activities such as receiving beams from the emitter(4) of the sensor(11), a blocking lever(6) is moving like a pendulum between the emitter(4) and the receiver(5). Therefore, the blocking lever(6) can mechanically detect a thread or a tape attached to the end of the paper money.
