THERMOSIPHONIC OIL COOLER FOR REFRIGERATION CHILLER

Oil cooling is accomplished in a refrigeration chiller by flowing hot oil in to heat exchange contact with liquid refrigerant which is sourced from the chiller's condenser (14) and returned thereto. The rejection of heat from th e oil to the refrigerant in an oil-cooling heat exchanger (36) causes vaporization of the refrigerant and, in turn, creates a density difference i n the refrigerant flowing from the condenser (14) and refrigerant in and downstream of the oil-cooling heat exchanger (36). This density difference i s responsible for inducing and maintaining refrigerant flow through the heat exchanger (36) for oil cooling purposes.
