The device for separating off individual articles hanging from hooks (2), especially clothes on hangers, comprises a storage system (4) for the articles on a slide rail (30). This feed them to a second slide rail (1a) for separating and transporting the individual articles. The two rails are arranged at an obtuse angle /=g to each other, forming a corner (57). A swivelling plate (67) which grips the hook of each article as it reaches the corner and transfers it on to the second slide rail.
