The torque converter incorporates a first and a second connection channel arrangement for a working fluid. A third channel arrangement (78,80,82) drains the working fluid from a fluid chamber (56), when a coupling element (50) is pressed towards a housing (12) or a component connected to it via a friction plate arrangement (53). The fluid chamber contains a rotating turbine wheel (26). First and third connection channels are connected to the first fluid chamber on axially opposite sides of esp. a turbine wheel shell (28).
