<p>This lock chamber (2) defines an elongated storage compartment with a pair of openings (20, 24) at the opposite ends (16, 18) of the same closed by doors (22, 26). One opening (20) is for receiving merchandise to be stored in the compartment, while the other opening (24) is for retrieving the merchandise from the compartment. Several partitions extend across the compartment and are longitudinally adjustable within the same. The doors (22, 26) and the partitions can be locked. Preferably, the compartment is formed by a semi-trailer which is located at the merchandise retrieving opening (24) in communication with the opening © of a loading dock (A) of a grocery store or the like. The lock chamber (2) can receive several successive loads of merchandise of different volumes and delivered by trucks (D) at hours of the day when the personnel operating the loading dock (A) is not available.</p> |
