APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CORRECTING POWER FACTOR OF INVERTER

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for correcting a power factor of an inverter are provided to reduce a cost by simplifying a manufacturing process of a semiconductor by using a digital circuit. CONSTITUTION: An analog/digital converter(650) receives and converts a rectified signal into a digital signal. A ROM(660) stores sine data corresponding to an alternating current power supply. A voltage level detector(630) detects a level of a voltage across a direct current link. A digital logic controller(640) reads the sine data of the ROM(660) corresponding to the digital signal from the analog/digital converter(650) and divides the sine data by a factor according to the voltage level detected by the voltage level detector(630) to output a pulse width modulating signal. A driver(670) receives a pulse width modulating signal from the digital logic controller(640) and outputs a switch control signal of a pulse amplitude modulation control transistor(N1).
