METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR ERROR HANDLING IN RADIOCOMMUNICATION SYSTEMS EMPLOYING PRE-PAGING

Methods and systems for handling errors associated with pre-paging in radiocommunication networks are described. If radio contact to a terminal is lost after a successful pre-page, the network can detect this event. Then, when the corresponding call delivery message is received, the network can re-page the terminal and re-allocate radio resources if the terminal is available. Additionally, a guard timer can be started when radio resources are first allocated. If the call delivery message is not received prior to expiration of the timer, the radio resources can be deallocated to avoid wasting such resources in the event that the call delivery message is lost in the network.
