The accumulator has a positive electrode based on a nickel hydroxide and a negative electrode forming a hydride once charged. Total negative capacity exceeds total positive capacity by at least 15%. The resulting over capacity is partly charge remaining when the positive electrode is completely discharged, and partly discharge when the positive electrode is fully charged.
