PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the workability for assembly of a vertical shaft excavator by simply performing the operation of assembling a drive body in a short time. SOLUTION: A mounting position adjusting plate 28 with a driving motor 18 mounted thereon is allowed to move freely in the radial direction of a casing tube S relative to a drive case body 16 by means of a plurality of oblong holes, and is freely movable in the direction of the axis of the casing tube S by means of a plurality of guide screw shafts 27. The mounting position adjusting plate 28, that is, the driving motor 18, can be fixed in a position where a pinion 31 is brought into proper mesh with a drive gear 26 by means of a nut 30.
