PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent sudden start when an engine of a plant husbandry machine is started. SOLUTION: In this engine starter of a plant husbandry machine having a recoil type starter, a means for detecting on/off state is disposed on a main clutch lever, and connected to a switching means. High-tension coils C1, C2 and a power generating coil C3 are disposed in the periphery of a rotor, the switching means is connected to the high-tension coils, and the power generating coil is connected to a change-over driving means. By this arrangement, when the main clutch is on, the engine is kept from being started. The switching means is a relay or formed by a semiconductor.
