PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lessen the labor of glue applying work on a worker and decrease the electric power consumption. SOLUTION: This wall paper-cutting apparatus 1 for cutting a side rim part 12 of a sheet-like wall paper material 11 while transporting the wall paper material 11 to an apparatus for applying a glue to the wall paper is provided with a rotary blade 7 for cutting the side rim part of the wall paper material along the transportation direction, an operation means M for rotating and operating the rotary blade 7, rolls 3a, 3b pivoted to rotate in interlock relation with the transportation of the wall paper material. detection means 33, 35 installed in the end of a shafts of the roll 3b and outputting pulse signals when the means detect the rotation of the shaft the roll 3b, and a control means which starts operation of the operation means M when the output signals from the detection means are changed from the steady state to pulse signals and stops operation of the operation means M when the output signals are changed from the pulse signals to the steady state.
