The invented crate (20) for with storing nests for bottles consists of a floor (22) and a wall structure (24). The floor (22) preferably has a lattice-like configuration and contains nests for location of bottles. On the floor (22) bottom surface (48) there is a plurality of upwardly recessed bottle top receiving areas for location therein tops of bottles contained in the below stacked crate (20). The wall structure (24) consists of a lower wall portion (62) following up with the floor (22) and pylons (28, 30, 30a) that are integral therewith. The wall structure (24) lower wall portion (62) consists of two walls and follows up with hollow pylons (28, 30, 30a). Walls of these hollow pylons (28, 30, 30a) are inclined and widen in the direction toward the floor (22). When empty crates (20) are nested, pylons (28, 30 and 30a) of upper crate (20) nest onto or above corresponding pylons (28, 30 and 30a) of lower crate (20) such that pylons (28, 30 and 30a), in effect, travel upward inside of pylons (28, 30 and 30a) respectively. The crate (20) of the present invention combines the features of good nestability of empty crates with low height thereof; a good strength and a very good visibility of stored bottles.
