PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a grating from burning in the vicinity of a burn up point where combustion takes place intensively by providing an adjustable angle suppressor for suppressing ash flow at a step part on the downstream side of the burn up point. SOLUTION: The step sliding stoker 1 comprises a refuse drying stoker 2, a refuse combustion stoker 3, a refuse post-combustion stoker 4, a step part 5 formed at the end of the stokers 2, 3, 4 in order to invert the refuse A while stirring, and a suppressor 6. The suppressor 6 is provided at the step part 5 on the downstream side of a burn up point B and can adjust the angle for suppressing the flow of ash C. It is positioned at the drop opening of the combustion stoker 3 on top of the step part 5 formed at the end of the stoker 3 and comprises a suppressing plate elevating/lowering about a lateral shaft through a rotary means. According to the arrangement, the grating can be prevented from burning in the vicinity of the burn up point where combustion takes place intensively.
