PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure having durability by reducing the permanent set of the abutting part of an airtight member for sliding sashes that is used by mounting on the stile or sash frame of the sliding sash in order to enhance the effect of hermetically sealing the inside of the sliding sash against the outside. SOLUTION: This airtight member for sliding sashes comprises a fitting base part 2 which is fitted and fixed into a fitting strip groove provided in the stile or sash frame of the sliding sash and an abutting part 3 in the form of a thin tongue piece projecting diagonally from one side edge of the upper surface of the fitting base part 2. A support piece 4 is provided which projects from the upper surface of the fitting base part 2 toward the abutting part 3 or from the lower surface of the abutting part 3 toward the fitting base part 2. An airtight member body having the fitting base part 2 and the abutting part 3 may be in a configuration in which a resin 3a of a high sliding property covers the upper surface of the abutting part 3 or in a configuration in which a projection 5 abutting on the end face of the stile of the sliding sash is provided to project from the other side of the upper surface of the fitting base part 2 from which the abutting part 3 projects, when the airtight member is used by fitting and fixing into the sash stile.
