PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve working efficiency by effecting convey-in and convey-out of a work in a more effective state when whole machining of a given spot is carried out by using a machining center to effect machining of a whole surface on the work. SOLUTION: In a machining center 1 having a work mounting table 3 movable to the work receiving side in a direction orthogonal to a main spindle 2, a work 50 is erected and held at a conveying device after mounting it on a jig pallet. The work is moved to a work delivery position A of a work mounting table 3 by the conveying device. The jig pallet on which the work 50 is mounted is transferred and fixed in a standing-upright state on the work mounting table 3, moved from a delivery position A, from the transferring device. The work mounting table 3 is moved to a machining position to effect machining of the work 50. Further, after machining, the jig pallet on which the work 50 is mounted is received by the conveying device waiting after the work mounting table 3 is moved to the work delivery position A and returned to a work conveying in and out station 8 and caused to rise and fall. A machined work is taken out from the jig pallet and conveyed to a subsequent process.
