PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter element capable of suppressing accumulation of adducts derived from AGEs and AGE-like tobacco (smoke) in individuals exposed to tobacco smoke and useful for health and the like by impregnating a specific ascorbic acid compound in a filter matrix. SOLUTION: This filter for combustion products of tobacco is a filter element used for combustible tobacco products or filtering air containing tobacco smoke and obtained by impregnating preferably 1-20 wt.% (based on the filter matrix) of an ascorbic acid compound such as ascorbic acid or the like expressed by the formula (R is CH2 OH, CHOH-CH2OH, COOH, CHOH-COOH or the like; R1 is O or a halogen; R2 is hydroxy, keto or a 1-6C alkoxy) in a filter matrix such as a cellulose (acetate), a polyester or the like. It is preferable to suppress accumulation of AGEs and AGE-like adducts by using the tobacco filter element and filtering the combustion products from tobacco.
