PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polyester fiber hardly generating fluff and yarn break in a spinning step, providing excellent weaving performance at high speed without twist and size, and further providing a high-quality woven fabric in the method of spinning a polyester and taking up the obtained yarn at the high speed of >=4,000 m/min. SOLUTION: When melt-spinning a polyester consisting essentially of a polyethylene terephthalate, imparting an oil to the obtained yarn by oil-supplying guides arranged in two steps, imparting interlaces to the resultant yarn by a device for air interlacing treatment, and taking up the interlaced yarn at a speed of >=4,000 m/min, the distance L1 from a spinneret surface to a first oil-supplying guide, the distance L2 from the spinneret surface to a second oil-supplying guide, and the distance L3 from the second oil-supplying guide to the device for the air interlacing treatment are regulated so as to be 400-800 mm, 1,000-1,600 mm and 500-2,000 mm, respectively. The oil is imparted so that the oil deposits W1 and W2 at the first and the second oil-supplying guides based on the fiber weight may be regulated so as to be 0.3-0.7 wt.% and 0.5-1.0 wt.%, respectively. The interlace is imparted so that the number (n) of the interlace may be 10-20/m.
