PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an antimicrobial polymer particle which has a high antimicrobial activity, by using an antimicrobial metal component and an antimicrobial organic component. SOLUTION: This antimicrobial polymer is obtained by carrying an antimicrobial metal component on a polymer particle and then further carrying an antimicrobial organic component containing at least one atom selected from oxygen atom, nitrogen atom and sulfur atom. The antimicrobial metal component comprises a metal ion or a metal compound. The antimicrobial metal component may be silver, platinum, copper, zinc, nickel, cobalt, molybdenum, chromium or the like, and the antimicrobial organic component may be an antifungal agent (an imidazole-based compound, a thiocarbamate-based compound, an organic acid-based compound, a thiazolone-based compound, a tropolone based compound or the like) or the like. The antimicrobial polymer particle has high affinity with resins, and is useful for antimicrobial resin compositions (coating resin compositions or the like).
