PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate sorting and enhance the accuracy of sorting. SOLUTION: A sorting device is composed of a conveyer 1 provided with loading zones 11 in the longitudinal direction, an article delivery unit 2 provided on one side of the upstream part of the conveyer 1 in the transfer direction, and a plurality of article extracting units 3 provided for respective destinations, on one side of the downstream part of the conveyer 1 in the transfer direction. The conveyer 1 is provided at or around the boundary between the adjacent loading zones 11 with zone identifying indications corresponding to the sorting destinations, and the feed-out unit 2 has an article feed-out part for feeding articles to be sorted onto the conveyer 1, and incorporates a first reader for reading the zone identifying indications, and a second reader for reading article identifying indications applied to the articles. Further, each of the article extracting units 23 incorporates a third reader for eating the zone identifying indications, and an extraction device for extracting articles in the loading zones, based on the read result of the third reader.
