PRODUCTION OF OXETANE COMPOUND HAVING CHLOROMETHYL GROUP AT 3-POSITION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an economically advantageous method for producing an oxetane compound having chloromethyl group at the 3-position by which a phase-transfer catalyst used is recovered and reutilized. SOLUTION: A reactional liquid after a reaction is separated into an organic phase and an aqueous phase and a phase-transfer catalyst in the organic phase is then extracted with water to reuse the phase-transfer catalyst contained in the extracting water in a method for subjecting a 2,2-bis(chloromethyl)alkan-1- ol or its carboxylic acid ester to a dehydrochlorinating reaction or a reaction for removing an acid chloride in the presence of the phase-transfer catalyst in an aqueous solution or an aqueous suspension of an alkaline compound and thereby producing an oxetane compound having the chloromethyl group at the 3-position.
