PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lifting mechanism of a lifting type side fence for use with a lying stand such as a bed such that a side fence body is raised and lowered by the rotation of support arms, along a locus of this rotation, the mechanism making it possible to secure a sufficient height of the side fence body at a service position and to secure a great distance between the lower edge of the side fence body and a floor face at a stored position. SOLUTION: A side fence body 112 comprises a plurality of fence parts 113, 114 arranged respectively in upper and lower positions. A plurality of the fence parts are each rotatably connected at both lateral sides thereof to a pair of support arms 108 rotatably supported against the side fence mounting part of a lying stand such as a bed, a plurality of the fence parts being supported in such a way as to be raised and lowered by the rotational movement of the support arms, along a locus of the rotational movement. The connections of the support arms with the fence parts are arranged such that during the falling movement of the fence parts caused by the rotational movement of the support arms, the connection 116 of the upper fence part make rotational movement in a relatively delayed phase, using the connection 115 of the lowest fence part as a fulcrum. |
