PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the failure diagnostic time to efficiently perform purge. SOLUTION: A fuel tank 1 and a canister 2 are normally connected by an evaporated fuel introducing passage 3, fuel vapor generated in the fuel tank 1 is collected by the canister 2, and the fuel vapor collected is purged into an intake passage 9 through a purge passage 8. Based on the amount of fuel vapor generated in the fuel tank 1, which is measured by hermetically sealing the fuel tank 1 and the canister 2, and the behavior of the internal pressure obtained by providing the differential pressure between the internal pressure and external pressure of the purge passage to hermetically seal and measure the purge passage, an ECU 10 performs opening diagnosis of the purge passage. In this case, when the behavior of the internal pressure of the purge passage is measured after the amount of generated fuel vapor is measured, the ECU 10 performs opening diagnosis of the purge passage based on the measured results of the amount of generated fuel vapor.
