METHOD FOR CONSTRUCTING AND RECOGNIZING MENU COMMANDS OF TELEVISION RECEIVER

PURPOSE: A method for constructing and recognizing menu commands of a television receiver is provided to designate menus on a screen as regions having various shapes and allow a user to select a menu irrespective of the order of the menus and to move a cursor even in the diagonal direction or curved-line direction. CONSTITUTION: The size of the entire screen of a television screen is divided by N having a value larger than 1 in X and Y coordinate directions. An object is set in the two-dimensional coordinates within the range of the screen reduced to N. When a cursor enters the object, the object is recognized to be selected and a command corresponding to the object is read from a database and executed. The object has an identification number. When the cursor enters the object area, the command corresponding to the object is read from the database using the identification number. The position of the object is changed on the screen of a television receiver according to a user's operation.
