The present invention relates to computer network technology. A communication-oriented operating system for a computer station has memory management functions, message processing functions and an Inter Process Communication module, able to handle exchange of messages between local applications on the computer station and distant applications on a remote computer station. The message processing function is able to process a service portion of messages to and from the local computer station. According to a main feature of the invention, the Inter Process Communication module cooperates with the memory management functions in order to reserve a first portion of memory and a second portion of memory. The Inter Process Communication module is further able to cooperate with the memory management functions, in accordance with a short storage condition, in order to put selected ones of the messages to be transmitted in the first portion of memory, and to put selected ones of the messages received in the second portion of memory. |
