PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic engine stop device for an AT car which can reduce the shock at the automatic stop time of the engine in D range effectively. SOLUTION: In this automatic engine stop device, when the automatic stop condition of the engine is realized and an engine stop order is issued, an engine torque and the number of engine rotation are gradually reduced by the control of a fuel injection quantity. When the number of engine rotation becomes the slightly big number of rotation than the upper limit of the resonance frequency zone of a drive line, the engine torque is reduced suddenly by the stop of the fuel injection and the reduction of intake air amount by the control of ISC and the number of engine rotation is lowered quickly. Thus, by the step control of the number of engine rotation, the vehicular front/rear G caused by the sudden change of the number of engine rotation and the vehicular front/rear G, upper/lower G or right/left G caused by the passing of the resonance frequency zone are effectively restrained.
