PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distribution type fuel injection pump furnished with an electronic type timer device capable of restraining timing advance shortage of a timer characteristic by reducing leakage of high pressure fuel to the inside of a timer low pressure chamber from a pump chamber. SOLUTION: An annular leakage recovery groove 73 to recover leaking fuel to leak to the inside of a timer low pressure chamber 52 of a timer housing 50 through a communicating passage 58 and a clearance between an inwall surface of the timer housing 50 and an outer peripheral surface of a timer piston 53 is provided on the inwall surface of the timer housing 50 of an electronic timer device 9. Thereafter, an orifice 74 to adjust a flow rate of leaking fuel to be discharged to the suction side of a feed pump from a clearance part between the inwall surface of the timer housing 50 and the outer peripheral surface of the timer piston 53 is provide in the middle of a leakage recovery passage 57 having this leakage recovery groove 73.
