PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the shock energy absorbing performance in a side impact or the like of an assist grip of a roof side rail part fitting type. SOLUTION: In this fitting structure, a fitting base part 8 is fixed to a vehicle body 4 by bolts 4 at a forward end part 2a of a grip body 2, and shielded by an end cap 13. A substantially T-shaped slide base part 14 is fitted to a channel-like retainer 16 fixed to the vehicle body by bolts 17 at a rear end part 2b, the retainer 16 is abutted on an abutting regulation surface 15 to permit only the backward movement of the rear end part 2b. At the same time, a flexible resin layer 18 is provided inside the rear end part 2b. When an occupant collides with an assist grip 1, the assist grip 1 is deformed from the flexible resin layer 18, and the rear end part 2b is allowed to slide backward to absorb the collision energy.
