PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain performance for removing a phosphorus component for a long period, in an electrolytic dephosphorizing device in which an anode and a cathode are immersed into water containing the phosphorus component, and between the anode and the cathode are electrified to electrolyze the water and the phosphorus component is made hardly insoluble in water and is deposited. SOLUTION: The device has a flow passage 8 through which water containing the phosphorus component is allowed to flow from the upper part to the lower part, and is provided with the cathode 21 formed of an assembly of small pieces 4 charged into a metallic cage 1 having a net shaped bottom plate 3, at the upstream side of the flow passage 8, and a net shaped anode 22 arranged oppositely faced to the bottom plate 3 of the metallic cage 1, at the down stream side of the flow passage 8, and also the cathode 21 and the anode 22 are installed across the cross-sectional area of the flow passage 8. Since the cathode 21 is formed of an assembly of small pieces, then the surface area of the anode 21 is greatly large and electric current density impressed on the anode 21 becomes low.
