摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connecting structure of an exhaust manifold and a catalyst case capable of preventing breakage of a catalyst inside by reducing quantity of a compound produced inside when connecting them by friction welding. SOLUTION: A structure to connect an exhaust manifold 1 and a catalyst case 2 by friction welding is constituted by forming the side of the catalyst case 2 in a protruded shape having an outside tapered surface 4a and an inside tapered surface 4b, forming the side of the exhaust manifold 1 into a recessed shape having an outside tapered surface 5a and an inside tapered surface 5b and setting width dimensions (a) of the outside tapered surfaces 4a, 5a more than two times of width dimensions (b) of the inside tapered surfaces 4b, 5b.
