PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a space for a normally/reversely feeding apparatus for adjusting the normal/reverse feed of paper to a printing unit and the quantity of the feed and to simplify the composition of the apparatus. SOLUTION: In a variable rotary printing machine which comprises a printing cylinder and press cylinders 7, 7a arranged adjacently between a feeding roller 1 and a drawing roller 2 the speed of which can be adjusted and which are rotated at a constant speed while holding paper which is fed by the rollers and in which on the peripheral surface of the printing cylinder, at least one printing unit in which a large diameter part which in contact with the paper and performs printing and a small diameter part having a prescribed clearance between it and the paper are formed in the circumferential direction and a normally/reversely feeding apparatus which is in contact with the paper passing between the printing cylinder and impression cylinder of the printing unit and rotates normally/reversely so that the paper can be fed normally/reversely, and the quantity of the feed in each direction can be adjusted optionally are arranged, the feeding apparatus is formed by one rotary body on which the paper is stretched for feeding.
