PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a detergent which removes dirt deposited on a hard surface and decreases the reattachment of dirt by incorporating a cationic surfactant and a nonionic surfactant into the same. SOLUTION: This detergent contains a cationic surfactant of the formula and a nonionic surfactant of the formula: R5-O(EO)n-R6 or R7-O-(EO)x-(PO)y-(EO)z- R8. In the formulas, one or two of R1 to R4 are each 8-16C alkyl or alkenyl and the rest are each 1-3C alkyl, benzyl or a group of the formula: -(EO)mH; EO is oxyethylene; m is 2-20; X is halogen or an organic anion group; R5 is 1-24C alkyl or alkenyl; n is 1-30; R6 is H or 1-18C alkyl; R7 and R8 are each H, R5 or 3-12C cycloalkyl; PO is oxypropylene; x and z are each 1 or higher; y is 1-40; and (EO)x, (PO)y, and (EO)z are each bonded in block or randomly. This detergent is suitable especially for cleaning a plastic container.
