PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform dressing on a grinding wheel with high accuracy without being influenced by a dimensional change in the grinding wheel caused by a temperature change by supplying a grinding liquid to the grinding wheel before bringing a dresser and the grinding wheel close to each other by a prescribed feed quantity. SOLUTION: After setting a grinding wheel 46 in a prescribed stanby position, a cutting oil supply device 50 is turned on to spray cutting oil only for a specific time toward the grinding wheel 46 from a nozzle 48. After stopping supply of the cutting oil, while bringing the grinding wheel 46 close to a dresser 36 by a unit feed quantity, a position for the grinding wheel 46 to contact with the dresser 36 is detected. Thus, a temperature of the grinding wheel 46 is stabilized by supplying the cutting oil to the grinding wheel 46 before detecting the position for the grinding wheel 46 to contact with the dresser 36, thereby reduce a dimensional variation in the grinding wheel 46, so that dressing can be performed on the grinding wheel 46 with high accuracy.
