PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To regulate the opening of automobile air bag doors with reliability, open them smoothly and control their opening speed. SOLUTION: An air bag door 16 has, on the underside of a door body 18 that closes an opening 14a of an air bag container 14, a pair of widthwise interspaced opening regulating members 30 in an integrally resin-molded relation. A stop 36, which is fixedly positioned on each side of the air bag container 14, passes a through hole 32 cut in each opening regulating member 30 to set the air bag door 16 in a closed position. Each opening regulating member 30 has a groove 38 originating from the through hole 32 in an arc about a hinge portion 28. The root of each arc groove 38 forms a thin-walled tearing region 40 with a smaller plate thickness than the other regions. When the door body 18 opens or turns on the hinge portion 28, the opening regulating members 30 move accordingly in relation to the stops 36, which tear the tearing regions 40 to decelerate the opening movement. |
