PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition having a light absorbing coefficient for a specific wave length of not more than a specific value, an excellent heat resistance and an excellent transparency by blending a polyimide and a polyarylate in a specific composition ratio. SOLUTION: This composition, which has a light absorbing coefficient for the wave length of 400-800 nm of not more than 200 cm-1, is obtained by a blending 0.05-99.95 wt.% of a polyimide of formula I and 99.95-0.05 wt.% of a polyarylate of formula II. In the formulas, Ar is a 6-15C aromatic; R1 is a 2-30C aliphatic or a 4-30C alicyclic; R2 is a 6-18C aromatic; X is a 1-5C aliphatic, a 6-12C alicyclic or a halogen; (y) is 0-4; R3 is a 1-10C aliphatic or a 6-12C alicyclic; and (z) is 0-1. Preferably, the polyimide and the polyarylate are organic-solvent soluble. If both of them are organic-solvent soluble, it is possible to obtain a molded item by dissolving and mixing them in an organic solvent and removing the organic solvent after casting the solution into a mold.
