PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a highly active catalyst capable of giving a polyolefin with high stereoregularity and flowability. SOLUTION: This olefin polymerization catalyst is composed of (A) a solid catalyst component essentially comprising magnesium, titanium, a halogen and an electron-donating compound, (B) an organoaluninum compound and (C) an alkylalkoxysilane of the formula R1R2Si(OR3)(OR4) (R1 is R5R6R7CCH2CH2; R2 is a 1-4C primary aliphatic hydrocarbon group or 1-4C primary aliphatic alkoxy group; R3 and R4 are each a 1-4C aliphatic hydrocarbon group; R5 and R6 are each a 1-6C aliphatic hydrocarbon group; R7 is H or a 1-4C aliphatic hydrocarbon group; at least two of R5, R6 and R7 may form a ring).
