PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for vapor-phase polymerization in a fluidized bed, which allows the polymerization reactions to proceed while controlling sheeting caused by the heat generated in the bed, and also to provide an apparatus therefor. SOLUTION: This apparatus for vapor-phase polymerization supplies the solid catalyst for polymerization into a fluidized bed reactor 1, and blows the gaseous monomer of given density into the fluidized bed reactor 1 by a blower 8 from the bottom of the reactor 1 via the distributor 11, to form the fluidized bed 4 in which the vapor-phase polymerization reactions proceed to produce the product polymer, wherein the control section 15 is provided to control the blower 8 in such a way to discretely change rotational speed of its impeller.
