PRODUCTION OF X TYPE ZEOLITE COATED GLASS FIBER AND X TYPE ZEOLITE COATED GLASS FIBER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processing for production of an X-type zeolite coated optical fiber having an excellent adhesion property to a glass fiber with high coating efficiency of X-type zeolite and the X-type zeolite coated optical fiber. SOLUTION: The silica-alumina-base glass fiber and silica-base glass fiber are immersed into preferably 0.5 to 3 mol/L aqueous sodium hydroxide solution in such formulation that the ratio of the silica-alumina-base glass fiber to the total glass fibers attains preferably 0.1 to 0.6. The aqueous sodium hydroxide solution is heated in this state to preferably 80 to 150 deg.C to deposit the X-type zeolite on the surface of the glass fiber.
