PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily bore a hole in the sidewall of a planter. SOLUTION: This planter 1 is composed of palm fibers and an adhesive capable of loosely bonding the mutually entangled palm fibers, imparting flexibility to the whole and easily boring a hole in the sidewall thereof. The adhesive comprises a crude rubber as a main raw material. The method of producing the planter 1 comprises a first step of loosening the palm fibers and subdividing the loosened palm fibers, a second step of spraying the adhesive without hardening even when dried on the subdivided palm fibers and drying the adhesive to an extent of semidrying, a third step of lightly rolling the palm fibers with the adhesive in a semidried state, a fourth step of spraying the adhesive on the subdivided palm fibers again and drying the adhesive to an extent of semidrying and a fifth step of placing the palm fibers with the adhesive in the semidried state in a forming mold and carrying out a compression molding. The fourth and fifth steps are repeated plural times according to the required hardness and wall thickness of the molded product.
