PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the change of the height position of a work by using a load sensor also as a forced operation switch for an air cylinder. SOLUTION: In an air balancer, an air pilot reducing valve 17 has such functions as to set a proportional pressure generated from a load sensor 7 to a pilot pressure, and regulate the air pressure of a main circuit 18 to an air cylinder 5 according to the pilot pressure, so that a work W is held at a prescribed height with balance. A work holding member 4 is manually lifted or pushed down so that the height position of the work W can be arbitrarily changed. This device is also provided with an external force applying means 20 artificially and moderately applying an external force to the load sensor 7 so as to moderate the pilot pressure artificially. The load sensor 7 is thus constituted to be also used as a forced operation switch,so that the height position of the work W can be easily changed.
