PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new forming method of a coating structure suitable as a catalyst member and having a large specific surface. SOLUTION: A new forming method of a coating structure suitable for performing uneven catalytic reaction is provided. The coating structure has layers each composed of a film-like sheet metal thin plate and flow channels and one layer is arranged on the other layer and the flow channels are formed in the thin layers or between them. A porous or higher rough catalytically active coating part 11 is formed on the individual sheet metal thin plate 10 in a container, that is, applied to the sheet metal thin plate pref. before re- molding by a plasma spraying method, that is, an LPPS method using a plasma flame 212 acting in a focuslenss manner in an injected powder jet and, after coating, the coating part is appropriately reformed before the sheet metal thin plate is formed into a laminated or reeled form.
